First! Sony rolls out the February security patch to its Xperia X family, beats everyone else
![]() |
Got a Sony Xperia XZ, X Performance, Xperia X or an X Compact, perchance?
Great news for you, then! It seems that Sony is currently updating said devices with the February Android security patch. Rolling under build number 34.2.A.0.311 for the Xperia X and X Compact and 39.2.A.0.417 for the XZ and the X Performance, this update essentially makes Sony’s latest crop of phones the most secure ones in the Android lineup — even Google has not rolled this one to the Pixels yet.
The tech giant usually posts patch notes on in its Android security bulletin every month and only then begins rolling out the corresponding patch to its devices, but this doesn’t seem to be the case yet.
It doesn’t seem that the patch is bringing any other changes alongside the security hotfixes. Also, no other Xperia phones are getting this update yet.
Anyways, good job, Sony.
