Sprint says customers with replacement Galaxy Note 7 can exchange it for a new device

Following the news that one of the replacement, “safe” Galaxy Note 7 phones may have overheated, Sprint is letting anyone with one of the new Note 7s exchange their phones.

Sprint has said that if a customer with a replacement Note 7 has concerns about their phone, they’ll be allowed to swap it out for another device. Sprint’s full statement to Recode is as follows:

“If a Sprint customer with a replacement Note 7 has any concerns regarding their device, we will exchange it for any other device at any Sprint retail store during the investigation window.”

Samsung is looking into the Note 7 that overheated on an airplane earlier this week. Meanwhile, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission is “moving expeditiously” to investigate the matter, contacting Samsung, the FAA, and the owner of the Note 7 to learn more.

While Samsung and the CPSC are still investigating this latest incident involving a Note 7, the news could have some folks worried that their replacement Note 7 is just as dangerous as the old models. With its new offer, Sprint is letting Note 7 owners wash their hands of this whole situation and get a totally different phone.
